Casa Otoñal Inc. is very excited to offer the following programs to our Greater New Haven Community in general and specifically to our Latino intergenerational Community.
Intergenerational After-School & Summer Program |
Casa Otoñal, Inc. intends to re-open our Intergenerational After-School and Summer Program to serve children ages 6-11. The intent is to serve a target population of low income, minority youth (primarily, Hispanic) and Casa Otoñal elderly residents, parents, grandparents, community volunteers, and university students. Up to 80 children are served by the program yearly. The objective of the program is to provide children with a safe and fun-filled alternative to the street through activities involving homework and tutoring; Latino arts and music; and other structured educational, recreational, and enrichment activities through positive interaction with seniors and other adult role models.

Senior Center Program |
The Senior Center Program seeks to maintain and/or improve minority (primarily Latino) elders' independence and quality of life in an interactive and caring environment that respects their culture and heritage. This is accomplished through activities that are designed to help improve their social interactions and quality of life; with offerings that include educational and informational programs that increase their awareness of nutrition, health, entitlements and community services. The program provides community outeach, recreational activities, and language translation services designed to reduce barriers in communication for non-English speacking seniors. In addition, the Nutrition Program sponsored through the Agency on Aging of South Central Connecticut provides weekly menus that provide lunch for all participants Monday thru Friday.
